This article presents reflections on the reality of teaching work based on current issues experienced by teachers. In this way, the objective of this article is to present and reflect aspects about a formative experience of research and pedagogical practice of emergency remote internship as a process of initial formation of undergraduates. This article is based on the qualitative assumptions of research in education. Thus, in this work, through an experience report, woven in supervised internship activities, some of the challenges faced in the classroom and in the daily work of teaching were addressed, pointing out how society contributes to the devaluation of the profession. In this sense, there is a two-way street regarding expectations in relation to teaching: on the one hand, the teacher who must offer quality classes and prioritize serious training for a better performance that values ​​respect for diversity and subjectivity; and on the other, social recognition and appreciation of the professional is expected, in addition to autonomy to better carry out their activities and have their rights guaranteed.
