The objective of this dissertation is to propose a new approach for a course for metrologists of the RBMLQ. The research was accomplished according to the following stages: issues to be responded related to identification of the problem, definition of the main objective, questions that need to be responded referring to the manitenance of a bank of metrology competences, to the partnerships with the teaching institutions and to the need of that labour for the private initiative. The theoretical research was elaborated based on an exploratory, descritive, qualitative, bibliographical, and documental research, and on driven interviews. Through this study it was made clear that this type of approach is to be extended to others segments besides Inmetro itself due to the globalization, new technologies and to the strategic guidelines envisioned for the next years. Being so, besides answering the formulated issues the dissertation also signaled actions and tendencies to minimize the latent problems in the scenery of metrologists qualification.
