Resumo: The objective of this work is the accomplishment of an exercise of strategic planning in a basic sanitation company, analyzing and adapting the strategic management process to a sustainable strategic management process. Were used like instruments of this works different concepts associated to strategic planning and sustainable development. A proposal sustainable balanced scorecard was built using information of ProLagos S.A, information acquire through interviews and questionnaires applied in different sectors of the company , the mean of this questionnaires was to know how was doing the strategic planning in the company and also how the relation of this strategic planning with the concepts related to the sustainable development definition. The implementation of a strategic planning that will include the social and environmental aspects has to include the external and internal stakeholders. Can be conclude that do not exists one specific or superior tool or methodology to implement a sustainable strategic planning, exists commons concepts to be applied to obtain a appropriate strategic planning. In spite of the consensus about the importance assessment systems, culture and values influence organizational behavior, one question remains without an answer, company staff participation in the strategic planning process, is not reason to reach the company strategic objectives, a engagement process is also need it

Foram utilizados como instrumentos para a elaboração do trabalho, diferentes conceitos associados tanto, a planejamento estratégico como também ao desenvolvimento sustentável. Foi construído um balanced scorecard incluindo-se a dimensão de sustentabilidade para servir de apoio ao desenvolvimento da gestão estratégica da empresa, para isso utilizou-se de informações da ProLagos obtidas através de entrevistas e questionários aplicados as diversas gerencias, objetivando colher informações da gestão e do planejamento estratégico, como também diagnosticar a relação com as variáveis socioambientais. A definição e implementação de um planejamento estratégico que considera a incorporação dos aspectos socioambientais deve considerar as necessidades de todas as partes interessadas (internas / externas) que tenham algum tipo de relação com a organização. Concluiu-se através deste exercício que não existe uma metodologia de planejamento estratégico que seja superior ou melhor que outras, e sim conceitos e orientações comuns a todas as metodologias, conceitos que tem que ser aplicados para assim poder obter um planejamento estratégico adequado a realidade da organização.
