This work intends to approach the relation between the Estado Novo (1937-1945) and the theater censorship. For such, we leave of the concept of extended State, of Antonio Gramsci, who not only understands the State in its direction strict politician, but cultural and also ideological. It is important to stand out that in this period the question of the culture was conceived aiming to an organization politics, that is, to the creation of proper cultural institutions, destined to the production and the propagation of the conception of world and if it used of the artistic sector for such. This field was especially on in the Getúlio Vargas government, and particularly to the minister Gustavo Capanema. We look for to show that beyond the censorship of the National Service of the Theater (SNT) and of the Department of the Press and Propaganda (DIP), the censorship of the taste and the imposed one through the state financings also existed. For such, considering that in the texts of Oswald de Andrade A morta , O rei da vela , O homem e o cavalo , amongst others, have an against-hegemonic character, and taking in account the affirmation of Bakhtin of that the word is the enclosure for bullfighting where if they collate the contradictory social values; the conflicts of the language the same reflect the conflicts of classroom in the interior of system , will take these works as analysis object.
