It identifies the main organizations that constitute Brazilian Antarctic Program (PROANTAR) in respect to the International System of the Antarctic Treaty, focusing on aspects concerned with management and representation of the information in the context of its scientific production. It studies the influence of the intrinsical questions to the conduction of the PROANTAR in the segments education and research, tracing a panorama of the thesis of Doctorate, the dissertations of Master Science and the Groups of Research has acted and that has been developed under the scope of such Program, where the selected elements of analysis had been, among others, the Great Areas and the Areas of Knowledge, the Institutions of Superior Education and the Units of Federation, as well as the Lines of Research of the thesis, dissertations and of the Research Groups. It presents, in first chapter, a panorama of the Antarctic Continent, the Brazilian Antarctic Program and the Antarctic System Treaty, with the objective of contextualizing the environment of studies. It focuses, in second chapter, the PROANTAR in the light of the Information Science', bringing the theoretical support of the Information Science and similar areas, more specifically concerning to the Classification, Representation and Information Management, besides approaching the aspects of Organizational Management of PROANTAR. It analyzes, in third chapter, the scientific production of PROANTAR, that discloses that the interdisciplinarity of its constitution has be expressed in the multiplicity of Great Areas and Knowledge Areas that compose the set of the segments Education and Research of the Program, how much in the diversity of its Lines of Research. It points a possible action to undertake in terms of future research, that is the constitution of a Interdisciplinar Group of Research in the scope of the PROANTAR that, following the lines of direction presented in the IV International Polar Year, can trace a global panorama of the region, studying its climate, fauna, flora, geopolitics questions, environmental and logistic areas and its information aspects. It leaves to the consideration of the Scientists of Information to that desiring the possibility to study such colorful and fascinating place. It concludes that the scientific production of the Program has peculiarities due to its configuration, that is composed by a junction of interests of four distinct segments of performance of the Brazilian Government.
