Facing an increasing competitiveness, companies are investing more and more in technological development aiming an expansion or a protection of this market share already conquered. Primarily, to achieve high technological stages, it is important to acquire or develop intellectual capital inside the business. In this context, the demand for stricto sensu post-graduation courses rises in several knowledge areas, increasing the possibilities that professionals assume preferential positions among others in a forward step for a successful carrier. A deeper professional qualification, more than a differential status during the seeking for better opportunities, is a pre-requisite. Following this tendency, there are substantial increases in the number of stricto sensu post-graduation courses offered by the universities. This Dissertation aims to study and analyse the efficiency during the development of products and resources allocated to the stricto sensu post-graduation courses referred to the Mechanical Engineering. This aim will be conquered, firstly, through the Productivity Probabilistic Analysis technique, complemented by the Data Envelopment Analysis technique. Analysis are made to verify the influence of several groups of assumed variables in the development of the universities during the considered period. The objective of this Dissertation is supported by public data surveys through CAPES s registers. These data are manipulated as required by the techniques mentioned above, reproducing efficiency scores that will support the final analysis of this Dissertation. Finally, the primary conquered results related to the productivity of the universities are highlighted based on the group of variables mentioned above. The primary causes of the calculated productivity variation among universities are also highlighted and may sustain the implementation of institutional politics in each one of the universities studied, aiming to improve its practices.
