Resumo: The present dissertation analyses in which form the linguistics varieties showed to the students of the EJA (Education of the Young People and Adults) are considered by the teachers in their daily education practices. The general purpose is to comprehend the way the teachers of the first segment of the EJA, develop their daily education practices in relation to the phenomena of the linguistic variation. The pedagogical practices are mainly studied from some aspects that refer to the phenomena of the linguistic variations according to some authors such as: Bagno, Bortoni-Ricardo, Gnerre and Soares among others. The empirical research was made through some interviews to two teachers who teach in the EJA at the public schools in the city of Rio de Janeiro, including 11 pupils. It has also been made 80 hours of observation in a classroom. The research shows some teachers and students conceptions about the spoken language that is supported in a notion of the unique and homogeneous language and the depreciation of the linguistic varieties spoken by teachers, mainly the regional varieties. The research leads to a prominence to reflect about these pedagogic practices, analyzing the conception of the language that circulates in the ambit of the school as a form to contribute to one of the linguistic and social diversity in the educational context.

O objetivo geral é compreender a forma como os professores da educação de jovens e adultos do 1º segmento do ensino fundamental desenvolvem suas práticas educativas diárias em relação ao fenômeno da variação lingüística. As práticas pedagógicas são estudadas principalmente a partir de alguns aspectos que se referem ao fenômeno da variação lingüística e com base em autores como Bagno, Britto, Bortoni-Ricardo, Gnerre, Soares, entre outros. A pesquisa empírica foi realizada através de entrevistas de duas professoras que atuam na EJA na rede pública do Município do Rio de Janeiro e de onze alunos. Foram observadas, também, 80 horas de sala de aula. A pesquisa evidencia algumas concepções das professoras e dos alunos sobre a língua falada que se sustentam numa noção de língua única e homogênea e a desvalorização das variedades lingüísticas faladas pelos educandos, principalmente das variedades regionais.
