The goal of this study is to identify and analyze the organizational practices that have emphasis on the project alignment with the corporate strategy and that are mostly applied in the management of Engineering and Construction megaprojects. In order to achieve this objective, a bibliometric analysis was developed in which three perspectives were found. The project portfolio management was chosen as the perspective to be detailed along this research since it is the most studied object in the literature. Aiming at comparing the theory with the market behavior, a survey was conducted with Brazilian companies of different sectors of the Engineering and Construction field. A questionnaire was made and the results were treated according to descriptive and analytical statistics. In this way, the Front-End Planning was identified as the mostly applied practice in the industry. Ten main topics were raised to compare the theoretical reference with the organizational practices. From the ten topics, only three presented relevant differences that need to be investigated in future researches. Among these differences between what is considered in the literature and what is practiced by the companies, it is possible to point out the variations in the projects budget in contrast with the methodology proposal to increase cost predictability.
