Resumo: | The present study presents and analyses the perceptions of a group of physicians, who work for themselves in doctor s offices, about the influential relationship observed between their work and their own quality of life (QOL). The study is based on the investigation about the limiting effects that the absence of an entrepreneur attitude or capacitation may cause over professional results and the conditions to live a good life. Using the three thematic blocks that represents the theoretical foundation of this study and the expertise and vision of a group made of four physicians taken as qualified reference for the development of this research, an instrument for data collection was designed (a questionnaire). The blocks of knowledge are the following: physician´s work, entrepreneurship and quality of live. The questionnaire was designed based upon hypothesis of work created from the integration of the theoretical basis and the empirical perception of the collaborative physicians. The effort resulted in a structured questionnaire made of closed-ended questions in order to verify the emerged hypothesis. The study had an exploratory nature and intended to bring to light some possible connections between the entrepreneurial attitude and the conditions for a good life, one of the components of quality of live. The selected sample was a group of physicians who work in a commercial building, composed of 198 service offices, most of them consisting in doctor´s offices with a private job profile. The forms were distributed only for the self-employed doctors, totalizing 51 delivered forms in a universe of 250 doctors working at the building. Thirty six forms were returned. The results showed that most doctors feel happy and fulfilled with their jobs, some of the aspects analyzed. However, they lack the main objective factors that determine conditions for a good life. This factors were selected based on the integration of theoric and empiric perception. The doctors recognize that they could reach better work results and better conditions for a good life if they were better entrepreneurs. The final finding is that, despite of the doctors lack of entrepreneur profile as well as the lack of knowledge and potentially business improvement practices, the physicians fell happy, possibly due to the sense of professional fulfillment and to the propose and meaning of life provided by the medical profession. . |

The final finding is that, despite of the doctors lack of entrepreneur profile as well as the lack of knowledge and potentially business improvement practices, the physicians fell happy, possibly due to the sense of professional fulfillment and to the propose and meaning of life provided by the medical profession.
