Patuá, hespanhol and guarany: from the language border to the threshold of discourse

Resumo: This paper intends to evaluate the production of the imaginary of language in frontier production conditions. Based on the materialist and pecheuxtian French branch of Discourse Analysis (AD), it analyzes a traveler’s descriptions who has been to the region of Foz do Iguaçu in 1903. The paper intends to understand how the language of the border is imaginatively instituted in the traveler’s discourse. The relationship between space, subject and discourse is decisive to the constitution of this language imaginary, since it is constituted to the extent that it is part of the power relationship that characterizes the State Apparatuses.

Ancorando nossa reflexão na Análise de Discurso (AD), de linha francesa, materialista e pecheuxtiana, analisamos descrições de um viajante que esteve presente na região de Foz do Iguaçu, em 1903. Importou-nos compreender o modo como a ‘língua de fronteira’ é imaginariamente instituída no discurso do viajante.
