SPEAKING “APAISANADO”: A MANNER TO DESIGNATE BORDER LANGUAGES

This research in Language Studies finds support in both the Theory of the Utterance and Discourse Analysis, benefiting from the dialogue between these two theories while discussing the designation of the language of “the others”, that is, trying to understand how a name can be given to a language that is already named, taking into consideration the utterance space in the border, according to Sturza (2006). Our corpus is constituted by pieces of oral utterances produced by speakers at the Brazilian-Uruguayan border, in the cities of Livramento/Rivera and Bagé. Based on the utterances collected, we believe that it is interesting to consider the relation created between the language and the speaker, and to perceive the constitution of the linguistic materiality of these utterances. There is in language a discourse about itself materialized in the collected utterances.
