Resumo: This paper analyses a selection of 16 dissertations and theses from communication programs in Brazil focusing on social class in a study of reception between 2010 and 2014. Bibliometric and qualitative analyses of the selected papers were performed in order to understand the concepts of ‘reception’ and ‘class’ as used in the papers, reflecting on the theory and methodology which impact studies of reception and, in general, communication studies.
