An analysis of the campaign #MyRefugeeFriend: experiences of interculturality and cosmopolitanism on Christmas Eve

Resumo: We propose a study of the campaign Meu Amigo Refugiado (My Refugee Friend) launched in December 2016 by Migraflix. It consisted of the reception of refugees by a Brazilian family for the Christmas dinner. After the meetingswere held, we sent specific questionnaires to both the refugees and participating families by e-mail. The hypothesis is that the campaign's attention can be explained by the context of the so-called global refugee crisis, guided by the national and interna tional media, and by the empathy that this theme can arouse. From the analysis of the answers, we realize that the commitment to the refugee cause is translated by the moral appeal to the atrocities propagated by the media as by the possibility of contact and exchange with foreigners possessing a civil history of struggle and overcoming. Keywords: Media; Refugees; Cosmopolitanism; Empathy.

A campanha consistiu na recepção por uma família brasileira a refugiados durante a ceia de Natal. Após a realização dos encontros, foram enviados, por e-mail, questionários para os refugiados participantes, como também para as famílias que os recepcionaram.
