Resumo: Divergences about the relationship between the stateand the audiovisual sector have historically dividedthe field ofBrazilianfield. Recently, onesuch disagreement was motivated by the consolidated the film industry’sopposition to the Ancinav (Agência Nacional do Cinema e do Audiovisual) project. The project was an attempt to regulate the whole audiovisual sector and to improve the incentive for independent film production. Thispaper analyzes the behaviour of the filmmaking industry in an attempt to understand the sector’s structure and its major agents. It is possible to identify the motivations for the disagreements within the sector and to deduce the changes that would have happened if the Ancinav project had been approved.

Uma recente divisão decorreu da resistência dos setores consolidados ao anteprojeto da Ancinav (Agência Nacional do Cinema e do Audiovisual), cujas propostas objetivavam regular todo setor audiovisual e abrir espaço para produção independente. O presente artigo analisa o posicionamento do meio cinematográfico, compreendendo a estruturação do setor e destacando seus principais agentes.
