Resumo: This paper is a reflection onthe discourse of “new corporate governmentality”(Dardot & Laval, 2016). It discusseshowthe idea of entrepreneurshipaffects the professional ethosof journalists and how it influences professional values.It also looks atself-employment (the creation of a personal business) as an alternative in the labor market. It is argued herethat the effort to restrain an action that isguided explicitly byeconomic interests –a distinctive featurecultivated by the professional fieldand based on humanistic and ethical values –is stressed when there is a presumed synthesis between journalist and entrepreneurindividuals. Thispaper also discusses the issue of aging in societyas experienced by journalists who do notadapt to new ways of mobilizing subjectivity in the labor marketlinked to notions such as flexibility, innovation, creativity, versatility and entrepreneurship skills.

Thispaper also discusses the issue of aging in societyas experienced by journalists who do notadapt to new ways of mobilizing subjectivity in the labor marketlinked to notions such as flexibility, innovation, creativity, versatility and entrepreneurship skills.Partindo de uma reflexão sobre o discurso da “nova governamentalidade empresarial” (DARDOT & LAVAL, 2016), o texto discute implicações da noção de empreendedorismo sobre o ethos profissional do jornalista e sobre o desenho da figura de um profissional mais ou menos valorizado segundo essa nova racionalidade, em um cenário onde a saída para o auto-emprego (criação do “negócio próprio”) é desenhada como alternativa no mercado de trabalho.
