Resumo: The study examines Brazilians´ political imaginary after election of president Dilma Roussef, through the investigation of the representation of social actors in electronic posts, published in one particular news site.  Laclau & Mouffe´s argument for the discursive nature of the social and of collective identities (1985) is drawn upon, as well as the concepts of polemical discourse (AMOSSY, 2011), ideology (EAGLETON, 1991; PEDRO, 1997) and social imaginary (FAIRCLOUGH, 2015; CASTORIADIS, 1982). On the basis of van Leeuwen´s (1996) theoretical framework for the study of the representation of social actors in discourse, the study identifies three types of social actors in the corpus; suggests some correlations between positioning and strategies of discursive representation of social actors; as well as introduces some considerations about the heterogeneous and dynamic nature of the social imaginary.

Universidade Federal Fluminense2016-07-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/article/view/3339110.22409/gragoata.v21i40.33391Gragoatá; Vol. 21 No. 40 (2016): LANGUAGE STUDIESGragoatá; v. 21 n. 40 (2016): Estudos de Linguagem2358-41141413-907310.22409/gragoata.v21i40reponame:Gragoatáinstname:Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF)instacron:UFFporhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/article/view/33391/19378Copyright (c) 2016 Gragoatáinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessBalocco, Anna Elizabeth2019-08-23T11:07:13Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/33391Revistahttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoataPUBhttps://periodicos.uff.br/gragoata/oai||revistagragoata@gmail.com2358-41141413-9073opendoar:2019-08-23T11:07:13Gragoatá - Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF)false
