Resumo: Notes on the literary histories of African countries that have Portuguese as their official language. Common historical traits are stressed, pointing to neo-romantic perspectives when these literatures contemplate questions related to their constitution as nations; strategies of renewal of the literary Portuguese language, whose plasticity goes back, in each nation, to Medieval times; the network they create in the universe of Portuguese written literature.
