Resumo: This article analyzes the poem “Cabo Frio” from the award-winning posthumous book Nuvens, by Hilda Machado. Its imagery is scrutinized according to three distinct emphases: first, through the relationship between landscape and nature in her poetry; secondly, through the relationship between the spatialization of feelings and fluidity of a fundamental object — the cloud — that are exposed in it; and third, through the relationship between the representation of the figure of women in Greek theater, in poetry and in the present world. In order to contextualize the poem in relation to the poet's work as a whole, comments will be made relating it to passages from some of the other poems. In conclusion, the article underscores implicit allusions to politics, the situation of women and the rivalry between poets, and their intersections with philosophy, politics and theater, on the basis of the poem in question.

Sua imagética é escrutinada segundo três ênfases distintas: a primeira, na relação paisagem-natureza em sua poesia; a segunda, na relação entre a espacialização dos sentimentos e a fluidez de um objeto fundamental — a nuvem — que nela se expõem; e a terceira, na relação entre a representação da própria figura da mulher no teatro grego, na poesia e na atualidade. No sentido de contextualizar o poema em relação ao conjunto da obra da poeta, serão tecidos comentários relacionando-o com passagens de alguns dos demais poemas.
