Resumo: Social psychology, from the mid 1960’s to the beginning of the 1970’s, went through, according to some authors, what is called "crisis". Throughout the following decades, theoretical and methodological disagreements present in this field have shown not only antagonistic positions in relation to important themes in the field of social psychology, but have also shed light on some authors who represented these rivalries. In Brazil, particularly in Rio de Janeiro, two important characters had their names and works connected to these antagonisms: Schneider & Rodrigues. Our aim is to present an account of history of these important characters of the social psychology in Rio de Janeiro.
