Resumo: This article aims to explain subjective processes related to depression, supported by a case study. This work is based on the constructive-interpretative method, having as its main theoretical referential the Theory of Subjectivity in a cultural-historical approach. The subjectivity in the referred perspective differs from the hegemonic pathological reification of depression, which has limited mental health practices, by offering theoretical tools that favor theoretical visibility on how this phenomenon concretely expresses in unique trajectories of life. Therefore, based on the adopted theoretical framework, it was possible to generate intelligibility about the uniqueness complexity of depressive process regarding the studied case. Thus, it pointed out that to consider the depressed person in its entirety, including its conceptions, experiences and ways of sociability, is fundamental to promote reflections and strategies that do not dissociate clinic, culture and society. That is to situate the depressive process inside a concrete weft of life, not the other way.
