Resumo: The article problematizes the discourses of transvestites about the violence experienced during the exercise of prostitutional activity carried out on the streets of the city of Campina Grande-PB. The prostitution spaces used by transvestites were mapped and a sample of five informants was selected for accessibility. Data collection involved simple observation - the field diary and semi-structured interviews, recorded and transcribed -, which underwent content analysis. The results showed that destabilization due to their gender performance makes transvestites the prefered victims of transphobic violence. The violence to which they are subjected - physical, psychological, patrimonial, etc. - is comprised of meanings about what it means to be a transvestite, produced and generalized based on prejudice towards these people, since they resist heteronormativity and are punished for it. The forms of violence intensify when transvestites are linked to prostitution, insofar as this activity is considered socially degrading and immoral. Se mapearon los espacios de prostitución utilizados por los travestis y se seleccionó una muestra de cinco informantes para su accesibilidad. La recolección de datos involucró una simple observación - el diario de campo y entrevistas semiestructuradas, grabadas y transcritas -, que fueron sometidas a análisis de contenido. Los resultados mostraron que la desestabilización por su desempeño de género convierte a los travestis en las víctimas preferidas de la violencia transfóbica. La violencia a la que son sometidos -física, psicológica, patrimonial, etc.- se compone de significados sobre lo que significa ser travesti, producidos y generalizados a partir del prejuicio hacia estas personas, ya que resisten a la heteronormatividad y son castigados por ello. Las formas de violencia se intensifican cuando se vincula a travestis con la prostitución, en la medida en que esta actividad se considera socialmente degradante e inmoral. Palabras clave: Travestis; Actividad de prostitución; Violencia.Este  artigo  problematiza  os  discursos  das  travestis  acerca  das violências vivenciadas durante a atividade prostitucional realizada nas ruas da cidade  de  Campina  Grande-PB.  Foi  realizado  o  mapeamento  dos  espaços de  prostituição  utilizados  pelas  travestis  e  selecionada  uma  amostra,  por acessibilidade,  de  cinco  informantes.  O  estudo  foi  procedido  por  meio  da observação  etnográfica  e  de  entrevistas.  Os  resultados  apontaram  que  as travestis são vítimas de transfobia por desestabilizarem a norma dominante de gênero. A violência à qual estão submetidas é originada pelas significações do que é ser travesti, produzidas a partir do preconceito em relação a esses sujeitos, visto que elas resistem à heteronormatividade e são punidas por isso. As formas de violência se intensificam quando a travestilidade está atrelada à prostituição, pelo fato de essa atividade ser considerada degradante e imoral.
