Resumo: | Quantitative-qualitative, exploratory, cross-sectional research to analyze the knowledge about transsexuality among students and professors of health courses at a federal university. Participated of research, 144 students and 23 professors answered a questionnaire with sociodemographic data, understanding, and knowledge about transsexuality and health. There was a gap regarding the knowledge about transsexuality between teachers and students. Students take ownership of more concepts, but they feel insecure about attending to a trans person because it is not addressed in the curriculum. Although they think the theme is essential, professors do not approach students and know some concepts. |

Although they think the theme is essential, professors do not approach students and know some concepts.Investigación cuantitativa-cualitativa, exploratoria, transversal, con el objetivo de analizar el conocimiento sobre la transexualidad entre estudiantes y profesores de cursos de salud en una universidad federal. Participaron 144 estudiantes y 23 docentes, quienes respondieron un cuestionario con datos sociodemográficos, comprensión y conocimiento sobre la transexualidad y la salud. Hubo una brecha en cuanto al conocimiento sobre la transexualidad entre profesores y alumnos. Los estudiantes se apropian de más conceptos, pero se sienten inseguros de atender a una persona trans porque el tema no se aborda en el plan de estudios. Los profesores, aunque piensan que el tema es importante, no se acercan a los alumnos y tienen poco conocimiento sobre algunos conceptos.Este artigo tem o objetivo de analisar o conhecimento sobre a transexualidade entre discentes e docentes de cursos da área de saúde de uma universidade federal. Trata-se de uma pesquisa quanti-qualitativa, exploratória e transversal da qual participaram 144 discentes e 23 docentes, que responderam a um questionário com dados sociodemográficos e sua compreensão e conhecimento sobre transexualidade e saúde. Observou-se uma lacuna referente ao conhecimento sobre transexualidade entre docentes e discentes. Discentes se apropriam de mais conceitos, porém se sentem inseguros para atender pessoas trans, visto que o tema não é abordado na grade curricular. Os docentes, apesar de acharem a temática importante, não abordam com os alunos e têm pouco conhecimento sobre alguns conceitos.
