Planning an Inquiry-Based Teaching Sequence for a Chemistry Teacher Training Course: A proposal for contextualized teaching in the initial training of citizen-teachers

Resumo: This study presents and discusses a teaching proposal to be developed in a Chemistry Teacher Training Course. The planning of this didactic proposal was based on a qualitative study and aimed to integrate chemical knowledge into the context through the use of theoretical and methodological aspects of Inquiry-Based Teaching proposed by Carvalho. The planned sequence explores a fictional case based on real facts and addresses issues of fish mortality and health concerns in a local community in the countryside of Bahia. The proposal can provides students in a Chemistry Teacher Training Course with the opportunity to formulate, test, and refine hypotheses and solutions through the use and development of chemical knowledge, connecting them to social, political, economic, ethical, and environmental aspects. We believe that the proposed investigative sequence can be used in other teacher training courses in different regions of Brazil, as long as the theme is relevant and pertinent to the reality of the involved students. Forthis purpose, it is crucial to recognize that adaptations and adjustments must be made in order to achieve the intended objectives. Furthermore, it can be adapted for remote teaching, according to the needs and specificities of teacher education, because it is composed of texts and secondary data.

O planejamento desta proposta didática fundamentou-se em um estudo qualitativo, com o objetivo de refletir sobre um ensino que integra os conhecimentos químicos ao contexto, utilizando os aspectos teórico-metodológicos do Ensino por Investigação propostos por Carvalho. A sequência planejada explora um caso fictício baseado em fatos reais ao abordar problemas de mortandade de peixes e de saúde em uma comunidade local do interior da Bahia. A proposta sugere proporcionar aos estudantes do curso de Licenciatura em Química a oportunidade de formular, testar e modificar hipóteses e soluções a partir da utilização e construção de conhecimentos químicos, relacionando-os aos aspectos sociais, políticos, econômicos, éticos e ambientais. Acreditamos que a sequência investigativa proposta pode ser utilizada em outros cursos de formação de professores em Química em diferentes regiões do Brasil, desde que a temática seja relevante e pertencente a realidade dos licenciandos envolvidos. Para isso, é crucial reconhecer que adaptações e ajustes devem ser realizados para que se possa atingir os objetivos para os quais foi elaborada. Além disso, ela pode ser ajustada para o ensino remoto, de acordo com as necessidades e especificidades da formação de professores, devido ao fato de ser constituída por textos e dados secundários.Este estudio presenta y discute una propuesta de enseñanza a desarrollarse en un curso de Licenciatura en Química. La planificación de esta propuesta didáctica se basó en un estudio cualitativo y busca una enseñanza que integre los conocimientos químicos con el contexto, utilizando los aspectos teórico-metodológicos de la Enseñanza por Investigación propuestos por Carvalho. La secuencia planeada explora un caso ficticio basado en hechos reales al abordar problemas de mortandad de peces y de salud en una comunidad local del interior de Bahía. La propuesta sugiere brindar a los estudiantes del curso de Licenciatura en Química la oportunidad de formular, probar y modificar hipótesis y soluciones a partir de la utilización y construcción de conocimientos químicos, relacionándolos con aspectos sociales, políticos, económicos, éticos y ambientales. Creemos que la secuencia investigativa propuesta puede ser utilizada en otros cursos de formación de profesores en Química en distintas regiones de Brasil, siempre y cuando la temática sea relevante y esté relacionada con la realidad de los licenciados involucrados. Para esto, es crucial reconocer que adaptaciones y ajustes deben ser realizados para que se puedan alcanzar los objetivos para los cuales fue elaborada.
