Resumo: This text is an excerpt from the research in progress: “On the pages of sixth grade Portuguese language textbooks: a reflection on multimodal genres”. The general objective of this study is to analyze and understand the use of multimodal genres in Portuguese Language textbooks for the sixth year of Elementary School. The research is linked to the area of ​​Applied Linguistics, qualitative approach and documental nature. The theoretical foundation was based on: Bakhtin (2003); Bezerra (2010); Bittencourt (2008, 2020); Bunzen and Abreu-Tardelli (2020); Cassiano (2013); Freitag, Motta e Costa (1997); Gualberto, Pimenta e Santos (2018); Kress and Leeuwen (1996); Munakata (2012); Razzini (2000); Rojo e Moura (2012) and Soares (2002). The study is nearing completion. So far, it was found that the analyzed documentary sources presented the study of textual genres as protagonists of chapters and units. Specifically about the multimodal genres, object of study, it was noticed the work with comics, advertisement, advertising and visual poem, cyberpoem and infographic as an integral part of the chapter.

O objetivo deste estudo é analisar e compreender o uso dos gêneros multimodais em livros didáticos de Língua Portuguesa do sexto ano do Ensino Fundamental. A pesquisa vincula-se na área de Linguística Aplicada, abordagem qualitativa e cunho documental. A fundamentação teórica pautou-se em: Bakhtin (2003); Bezerra (2010); Bittencourt (2008, 2020); Bunzen e Abreu-Tardelli (2020); Cassiano (2013); Freitag, Motta e Costa (1997); Gualberto, Pimenta e Santos (2018); Kress e Leeuwen (1996); Munakata (2012); Razzini (2000); Rojo e Moura (2012) e Soares (2002). O estudo encontra-se em fase de conclusão. Até o momento, verificou-se que as fontes documentais analisadas apresentaram o estudo dos gêneros textuais como protagonistas de capítulos e unidades.
