Conceptualizing Black Dances

Resumo: | This study is theorethical and bibliographic and proposes the analisys of the epistemological implications of the concept of black dances, as an analytical tool for understanding the social dynamics that articulate, from racism, dance, black identity and ethnicity. To pursue that, used theories from History, Sociology, Antropology and Cultural Studies, with emphasis on the concept of Black Atlantic (GILROY, 2011), the decolonial perspective (QUIJANO, 2000; DUSSEL, 2004; GROSFOGUEL, 2007) and the notion of representativity (DAVIS, 2014). The article points to two possibilities to use the concept: in the updating of afrodiasporic embodied knowledges and practices and in the black representativity in dance. Finally, discuss the possibilities and limits of the anti-racist political in dance. |

Utiliza como referencial teorias do campo da História, Sociologia, Antropologia e Estudos Culturais, com ênfase no conceito de Atlantico Negro (GILROY, 2011), na perspectiva decolonial (QUIJANO, 2000; GROSFOGUEL, 2007) e na noção de representatividade (DAVIS, 2014). O artigo aponta para duas possibilidades de uso do conceito: na atualização de práticas e saberes corporais afrodiaspóricos e na representatividade negra na dança.
