Resumo: Objective: to identify the scientific evidence in the literature on the insertion of a laryngeal mask by nurses. Method: integrative literature review, carried out in November 2020, whose search occurred in the databases Cumulattive Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane, Medical Excerpta Database, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, US National Library of Medicine National Institutes Database Search of Health and Web of Science, through the Rayyan program for study selection. Results: 1156 studies were identified, of which 8 met the inclusion criteria. The studies were categorized into first and second generation devices. Conclusion: it is concluded that the use of first and second generation laryngeal mask by nurses is an alternative recommended for its speed, success and effectiveness in guaranteeing the advanced airway, especially in situations of cardiorespiratory arrest in adults, however, it is recommended if the adverse effects of its use are verified. Keywords: Laryngeal masks; Nursing; Nurses and nurses.
