Memórias da luta de Trombas e Formoso: a construção da significância interpretativa e memorialística de um evento político

This paper presents a study about the memorialistic construction of political event of Trombas e Formoso to understand the constitution of the symbolic and interpretative significance of the peasant movement over the years. Thus, was developed an ethnography of memory when the political moment of Trombas e Formoso was moved from the past to the present in an effort to understand how that memory was constructed. The work is based on written narratives about the event and testimonials of people who participated or witnessed the event in the past and, also, those who experienced the event indirectly like the sons and daughters of participants who were born during the peasant resistance or during the period of brasilian Ditadura Militar. This study reveals the existence of a broken and fragmented memory by the military dictatorship process. The Golpe Militar of 1964 influenced in the rupture of the historical narrative of the political movement of Trombas e Formoso and also in the political and cultural transformations in the region. Such influences can be verified by the difficulty among the people related to the event to speak about it, leading to hypothesize a repressed memory.
