Resumo: | The livestock is an activity quite explored and has great potential in the state of Goiás. The evidence is that the state currently has the fourth largest herd cattle of the country (IBGE, 2011) and concentrates also the most confinement in Brazil (ASSOCON, 2012). Every economic activity involves risk and this isn´t different for the cattle breeding. Thus, it is important to find ways to manage the risks that involves livestock activity to mitigate and / or transferring the risk, especially the risk of price or market. There are several kinds of price risks management, one that has gained evidence in brazilian beef market is the use of the derivatives market. In this study the focus is just the future and options markets. Against these important options of risk management of price it raise a doubt of what the main factors of the beef cattle farmers in the state of Goiás to use the future and options market. This study analyzes the variables that interfere in use of risk price management by beef cattle farmers in the state of Goiás. For this, primary data were collected of a sample of 81 beef cattle farmers. Firstly it was made the analysis of the variables that characterizes profile of the farmer, the rural property, herd and commercialization, singly. Then noted the correlation between the main variables and the use of the future and options market, by cross tabulation. As observed in this analysis they are not all the main variables that influence the beef cattle farmer to participate in the futures and options market. Subsequently to confirm the factors that lead the beef cattle farmers participate in these markets logistic model was used with the significance level 10%. Concludes that it is small the part of beef cattle farmers in the state of Goiás that know and use the future and options market to manage risk of price. And the factors that are statistically significant to explain the participation in these markets by producers are only level schooling, financial activity outside the farm, technological intensity on fattening system (production) and the size of the rural property. |

Prova disso é que o estado atualmente possui o quarto maior rebanho bovino do país (IBGE, 2012) e concentra também o maior número de confinamentos de todo Brasil (ASSOCON, 2012). Toda atividade econômica envolve risco e não é diferente para a atividade pecuária. Assim, faz-se importante buscar meios de gerenciar os riscos que envolve a atividade pecuária para mitigar e/ou transferir os riscos, principalmente o risco de preço ou risco de mercado. Existem vários tipos de mecanismos de gerenciamento de riscos de preço, um dos que tem ganhado importância no mercado de boi brasileiro é a utilização do mercado de derivativos. Neste estudo damos enfoque apenas ao mercado futuro e ao mercado de opções. Diante destas importantes opções de gerenciamento de risco de preço surge a dúvida de quais são os principais fatores que levam os pecuaristas de bovinos de corte do estado de Goiás a utilizarem o mercado futuro e o mercado de opções. Este estudo analisa quais variáveis que interferem no uso de instrumentos de gestão de risco de preço por parte dos produtores de bovino de corte do estado de Goiás. Para isso, foram coletados dados primários de uma amostra de 81 pecuaristas de bovinos de corte. Foi feito primeiramente a análise das variáveis que caracterização o perfil do pecuarista, da propriedade rural, do rebanho e da comercialização, isoladamente. Em seguida se verificou a correlação entre as principais variáveis e a utilização do mercado futuro e a utilização do mercado de opções, pela tabulação cruzada. Conforme se observou nessa análise não são todas as principais variáveis que mostram influenciar o pecuarista de bovino de corte a participar do mercado futuro e do mercado de opções. Posteriormente para se confirmar os fatores que levam o pecuarista de corte a participar destes mercados foi utilizado o modelo logístico com nível de significância de 10%. Conclui-se que é pequena a parcela de pecuaristas de bovinos de corte do estado de Goiás que conhecem e utilizam o mercado futuro e o mercado de opções de forma a gerenciar o risco de preço.
