Resumo: The present study aims to analyze the hedging strategy in the marketing of maize grain in rural areas of Mozambique. The identification of the target group of farmers living in rural areas of Mozambique that has the cultivation, production and marketing corn as their main rural activity and ensuring subsistence. The surveyed communities are located in three provinces of Mozambique, they are: Maputo, Gaza and Manica. Data collection was done through questionnaires with key questions related to the central objective of the work. The researched producer number was 107, distributed in the three provinces. The research was qualitative and quantitative nature of the exploratory and descriptive. In addition to the primary data obtained through the questionnaires, also did- secondary sources queries such as theses, dissertations, scientific articles related to the topic of this work. In terms of search results it was found that the marketing for Mozambican community plays a leading role in social welfare. Due to lack of further information from producers claim to use no risk management strategy in marketing thus becoming vulnerable to prices for buyers. A small part of the producers, thanks to long experience in producing and marketing area adopt certain strategies for managing price risks, as the firmament of fixed-term contracts, most of them being informal agreements and sometimes not compensatory in the management process price risk . Among the socioeconomic variables that had a significant effect on the influence of the choice and use of hedging strategy to manage the price risk in the marketing of corn, are: schooling, production time, membership in a cooperative and satisfaction financial return.

A identificação do grupo alvo que foi dos produtores agrícolas que vivem nas zonas rurais de Moçambique que tem o cultivo, produção e comercialização o milho como a sua principal atividade rural e de garantia da subsistência. As comunidades pesquisadas estão localizadas em três províncias de Moçambique, são elas: Maputo, Gaza e Manica. A coleta de dados foi feita por meio de questionários com perguntas chaves relacionadas ao objetivo central do trabalho. O número produtor pesquisado foi de 107, distribuídos nas três províncias. A pesquisa foi de natureza quali-quantitativa do tipo exploratória e descritiva. Além dos dados primários obtidos via aplicação dos questionários, fez- se também consultas de fontes secundárias como teses, dissertações, artigos científicos relacionados ao tema do presente trabalho. Em termos de resultados da pesquisa constatou-se que a comercialização para comunidade moçambicana desempenha um papel preponderante no bem-estar social. Devido a falta de informação maior parte dos produtores afirmam não usar nenhuma estratégia de gerenciamento de riscos na comercialização tornando-se assim vulneráveis a preços praticados por compradores. Uma pequena parte dos produtores, graças a longa experiência na área de produção e comercialização adotam certas estratégias de gerenciamento de riscos de preços, como o firmamento de contratos a termo, sendo a maior parte deles acordos informais e por vezes não compensatórios no contexto de gerenciamento de riscos de preços.
