Resumo: | The present study was conducted in order to evaluate the effect of supplementation with barbatimão and pacari herbal extracts in the feed of broilers on performance, morphology of digestive organs and metabolization of nutrients in the ration. The experiment was conducted at the avian experimental facilites of the Federal University of Goiás, Brazil. Barbatimão and pacari herbal extracts were produced by percolation of hydroalcoholic solvent to 80% at the Research Laboratory of Natural Products of the Pharmacy Faculty of Universidade Federal de Goiás and showed, respectively, the content of 38.9% and 34.38% of total tannins. We employed a randomized block experimental design with nine treatments and five replications. We used 450 broiler chicks of Cobb commercial strain with average initial weight of 40g. The birds were allotted in galvanized wire metabolic cages, numbering 10 birds/cage for the pre-starter and starter stage and four birds/cage for the growth stage. Feed intake and birds weight were monitored weekly by weighing on the 1, 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 days of the experiment. Performance characteristics evaluated were mean final weight, weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion. We conducted the metabolism trial by the total excreta collection in the periods from 17 to 21 and 30 to 34 days. We determined the metabolization coefficient of dry matter, crude protein and nitrogen balance, dry matter and nitrogen. Necropsies were performed at seven, 21 and 35 days of life of birds, for evaluation and histomorphometric indices bio. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and compared by Tukey test at 5% probability. We found that the crude Stryphnodendron adstringens had an effect on feed conversion at 21 days and increased metabolism of some nutrients in the ration. Supplementation with 400 and 600 mg/kg increased the villous height and villous /crypt in the duodenum and jejunum. The use of crude barbatimão extract at doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg is an alternative to the use of antibiotic growth promoter. We found that diets containing crude pacari extract promoted performance similarly to diets containing antibiotic performance improver. The addition of 600 mg / kg pacari extract resulted in increased villous height, crypt depth and less consequent greater villus/crypt suggesting greater capacity for nutrients absorption. Supplementation with 600 mg/kg of crude pacari extract is effective as an additive to improve performance in broilers feed. |

O experimento foi realizado no aviário experimental da Universidade Federal de Goiás. Os extratos vegetais de barbatimão e pacari foram produzidos por percolação em solvente hidroalcoólico a 80% no Laboratório de Pesquisa de Produtos Naturais da Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade Federal de Goiás e apresentaram respectivamente o teor de 38,9% e 34,38% de taninos totais. O delineamento experimental adotado foi de blocos casualizados com nove tratamentos e cinco repetições. Foram utilizados 450 pintos de corte da linhagem comercial Cobb com peso médio inicial de 40g. As aves foram pesadas e distribuídas em baterias metabólicas de arame galvanizado, com dimensões de 0,50 m x 0,40 m x 0,40m, em número de 10 aves/gaiola para a fase pré inicial e inicial e quatro aves/gaiola para a fase de crescimento. O consumo de ração e peso das aves foi monitorado semanalmente por pesagens realizadas no 1°, 7°, 21°, e 35° dias de experimento. As características de desempenho avaliadas foram peso médio final, ganho de peso, consumo de ração e conversão alimentar. No período de 17 a 21 e 30 a 34 dias foi realizado ensaio metabólico pelo método de coleta total de excretas. Foi determinado coeficiente de metabolização da matéria seca, nitrogênio, proteína bruta o balanço de matéria seca e nitrogênio. Foram realizadas necropsias aos sete, 21 e 35 dias de vida das aves, para avaliação dos índices morfométricos. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e comparados pelo Teste Tukey a 5% de probabilidade. Verificou-se que o extrato bruto de barbatimão melhorou a conversão alimentar aos 21 dias e promoveu aumento da metabolização de alguns nutrientes da ração. O uso do extrato de barbatimão nas doses de 400 e 600 mg/kg aumentou a altura dos vilos e a relação vilo/cripta no duodeno e jejuno. Dietas contendo extrato bruto de pacari promovem desempenho semelhante ao obtido com dietas contendo antibiótico melhorador de desempenho. O extrato bruto de barbatimão apresentou efeito na conversão alimentar aos 21 dias e aumento da metabolização de alguns nutrientes da ração. A suplementação com 400 e 600 mg/kg aumentou a altura dos vilos e a relação vilo/cripta no duodeno e jejuno. A utilização de extrato bruto de barbatimão nas doses 200 e 400 mg/kg representa uma alternativa ao uso de antibiótico promotor de crescimento.A adição de 600 mg/kg de extrato de pacari resultou em aumentou na altura dos vilos e maior relação vilo/cripta sugerindo melhor maior capacidade de absorção dos nutrientes. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and compared by Tukey test at 5% probability. We found that the crude Stryphnodendron adstringens had an effect on feed conversion at 21 days and increased metabolism of some nutrients in the ration. Supplementation with 400 and 600 mg/kg increased the villous height and villous /crypt in the duodenum and jejunum. The use of crude barbatimão extract at doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg is an alternative to the use of antibiotic growth promoter. We found that diets containing crude pacari extract promoted performance similarly to diets containing antibiotic performance improver. The addition of 600 mg / kg pacari extract resulted in increased villous height, crypt depth and less consequent greater villus/crypt suggesting greater capacity for nutrients absorption. Supplementation with 600 mg/kg of crude pacari extract is effective as an additive to improve performance in broilers feed. |
