FOR A (NON)REINVENTION OF EDUCATION: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE DISPLACEMENT OF THE ROLE TRADITIONALLY ATTRIBUTED TO THOSE WHO TEACH

Resumo: | This article had as its goal to revisit, through a narrative literature review, different historical moments, from the 15th to the 21st centuries, in which the emergence of new technologies and/or social changes led to new ways of understanding, conceptualizing, and practicing education, until finally reaching the new questions that chatbots such as ChatGPT raise, the main one being: to what extent Artificial Intelligence can replace human teachers? It was concluded that, as a tool, ChatGPT and other similar models represent a considerable potential when it comes to being applied as part of educational practices conducted in school environments. It was also concluded that, instead of replacing the teacher, such tools will most likely require a new displacement of their function, in which competence and creativity to formulate complex questions should be highly valued. KEYWORDS: Education; Technological Innovations; Artificial Intelligence; ChatGPT.Este artículo tuvo como objetivo revisar, a través de una revisión bibliográfica de tipo narrativo, diferentes momentos históricos, desde el siglo XV hasta el siglo XXI, en los que la irrupción de las nuevas tecnologías y/o los cambios sociales llevaron a nuevas formas de entender, conceptualizar y practicar la educación, hasta llegar a las nuevas preguntas que plantean los chatbots como ChatGPT. La principal es: ¿hasta qué punto la Inteligencia Artificial puede sustituir a los profesores humanos? Se concluye que, como herramienta, ChatGPT y otros modelos similares tienen un potencial considerable para su uso como parte de las prácticas educativas realizadas en entornos escolares, pero que, en lugar de reemplazar al docente, tales herramientas requerirán un nuevo desplazamiento de su función, en las que se debe valorar la competencia y la creatividad para construir preguntas complejas. PALABRAS CLAVE: Educación; Innovaciones tecnológicas; Inteligencia artificial; ChatGPT.Este artigo tem como objetivo revisitar, por meio de uma revisão bibliográfica do tipo narrativa, diferentes momentos históricos, do século XV ao XXI, em que a emergência de novas tecnologias e/ou mudanças sociais levou a novas formas de compreender, conceituar e praticar a educação, até chegar às novas perguntas que chatbots como o ChatGPT suscitam, sendo a principal: em que medida a Inteligência Artificial pode substituir os professores humanos? Conclui-se que, na condição de ferramenta, o ChatGPT e outros modelos análogos têm considerável potencial de utilização como parte de práticas educativas conduzidas em ambientes escolares, mas que, em vez de substituir o professor, tais ferramentas exigirão um novo deslocamento de sua função, em que deverão ser valorizadas a competência e a criatividade para construir perguntas complexas.
