PUBLIC POLICIES FOR SPORT AND LEISURE AND INDIGENOUS PEOPLE : REFLECTIONS ON THIS RELATIONSHIP

Resumo: This article aimed to reflect on the discussions that, historically, have been developed in the area of sport and leisure through public policies with indigenous peoples. A bibliographical research was carried out in the databases Portal de Periódicos da Capes, in the Brazilian Digital Library of Thesis and Dissertations (BDTD) and in the Vitor Marinho Repository in order to analyze the production on the subject. According to the results, contact with Western society provided significant changes in the cosmological and mythical bases that make up the organization of the social life of indigenous peoples. Thus, dealing with sports in indigenous societies should take into account the historical and cultural elements of this phenomenon.

Se realizó una investigación bibliográfica en las bases de datos Portal de Periódicos da Capes, en la Biblioteca Digital Brasileña de Tesis y Disertaciones (BDTD) y en el Repositorio Vitor Marinho con el fin de analizar la producción sobre el tema. Según los resultados, el contacto con la sociedad occidental proporcionó cambios significativos en las bases cosmológicas y míticas que conforman la organización de la vida social de los pueblos indígenas. Así, el tratamiento del deporte en las sociedades indígenas debe tener en cuenta los elementos históricos y culturales de este fenómeno.O presente artigo teve por objetivo refletir acerca das discussões que, historicamente, têm sido desenvolvidas na área de esporte e lazer por meio de políticas públicas junto aos povos indígenas. Foi feita uma pesquisa bibliográfica nas bases de dados Portal de Periódicos da Capes, na Biblioteca Digital Brasileira de Tese e Dissertações (BDTD) e no Repositório Vitor Marinho a fim de se analisar a produção a respeito da temática. Conforme os resultados, o contato com a sociedade ocidental proporcionou modificações significativas nas bases cosmológicas e míticas que compõem a organização da vida social dos povos indígenas.
