DIFFERENCES BETWEEN UNDERSTANDING AND APPLYING RULES OF THE CODE OF POINTS IN THE VIEW OF BRAZILIAN ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS JUDGES

Resumo: This study articulates relationships between the levels of understanding that Brazilian Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics judges have about the rules set forth in the Code of Points, and how the application of these concepts occurs during the moment of professional performance in competitions. The sample was composed of 58 judges, who worked at the National or International level in the period 2017-2020. The data were obtained through specific questionnaires for each of the sports, applied virtually. It was identified that there is a difference between the understanding of some specific items of the Code, generating reflections about how the document is formulated, and how the judges' formation process is important to remedy such deficiencies.

La muestra estuvo compuesta por 58 árbitros, que actuaron a nivel Nacional o Internacional en el periodo 2017-2020. Los datos se obtuvieron mediante cuestionarios específicos para cada una de las modalidades, aplicados de forma virtual. Se identificó que existe una diferencia entre la comprensión de algunos ítems específicos del Código, generando reflexiones sobre cómo está formulado el documento, y cómo el proceso de formación de los árbitros es importante para subsanar dichas deficiencias.Este estudo articula relações entre os níveis de compreensão que os(as) árbitros(as) brasileiros de Ginástica Artística Masculina e Feminina possuem sobre as regras dispostas no Código de Pontuação, e de como ocorre a aplicação destes conceitos durante o momento de atuação profissional nas competições. A amostra foi composta por 58 árbitros(as), que atuaram em nível Nacional ou Internacional no período de 2017-2020. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de questionários específicos para cada uma das modalidades, aplicados de forma virtual.
