CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY AND WORLD CONFLICTS NOWADAYS: A CONTRIBUTION TO DEBATES

Resumo: Globalization, Culture and Politics are at issue in this approach, in which ideas and propositions of several researchers are discussed. Nowadays ethnogeographical conceptions are prevailing in this investigation. Main ethnical, cultural and religious conflicts (rising again throuhgout the world) are presented and detailed, emphasizing such discussions and debates in Brazilian territorial context. Geographical concepts and paradigms are adopted to clarify these dimensions. Linked environmental and gender questions are also considered and examined in this research. Besides, concepts and themes as for example minority claims; fundamentalist worldwide tendencies; postmodernity migration dynamics and processes; cultural landscapes classification; recent mutability in the recent role of Nation State, etc., are also focalized and verified. Les principaux conflits de nature ethnique, culturelle et religieuse du monde sont présentés et détaillés, avec emphase particular au context brésilien. Les categories conceptuelles d’analyse et les paradigmes d’interpretation ethnogéographiques sont privilégiés dans la recherche développée. Questions environnementales et de genre que se rapportent et s’approchent de la dimension culturelle sont examinées aussi. Autres concepts et thémes focalisés sont la question des minorités; l’emergence généralisée des fondamentalismes; le panorama mondial et dynamisme des migrations dans la post-modernité; la classification des paysages culturelles; les realignements actuels et rôle d’État, etc. Clés-Mots: Ethnogéographie, Géographie des Civilizations, Conflits Mondials.Este trabalho discute os temas da mundialização, cultura e política, colocando em pauta a idéias de vários pesquisadores e destacando as contribuições daqueles vinculados às linhas interpretativas da Geografia Cultural contemporânea. Apresenta um painel dos conflitos étnicos, culturais e religiosos, ressurgentes em várias partes do mundo explicitando-os detalhadamente- com um foco particular de atenção na realidade brasileira. Tais questões são reelaboradas à luz das categorias conceituais de análise e paradigmas de interpretação do conhecimento etnogeográfico. Interdigitações destas abordagens com a dimensão ambiental e questões de gênero são também abordadas. Conceitos e temas como a problemática dos grupos minoritários, o fenômeno da emergência do(s) fundamentalismo(s), o panorama mundial dos movimentos migratórios na pós-modernidade (e sua dinâmica), a classificação das paisagens culturais, as redefinições atuais no papel do Estado, etc., são também aí focalizados.
