Geovisualizing the geodiversity of Heavy Metal over the years around the world

Resumo: This exploratory and interdisciplinary work sought to bring together intersections between Heavy Metal culture and geodiversity, focusing on textual/landscape expressions of songs, albums and bands of the musical genre. To this end, we sought to combine the theoretical support of the Geography of Music and the meaning of soundscape with the technical/cartographic support of geo-visualization as a possibility of disseminating the results. It was seen, from data collected in the Encyclopaedia Metallum, that aspects of geological, geomorphological and hydrological interest have iconographic and sound reverberations in Heavy Metal, which were transmitted through specific characteristics of its subgenres and represented in a web gis application simplified.

Para ello, buscamos combinar el soporte teórico de la Geografía de la Música y el significado de paisaje sonoro con el soporte técnico/cartográfico de la geovisualización como posibilidad de difusión de los resultados. Se vio, a partir de datos recopilados en Encyclopaedia Metallum, que aspectos de interés geológico, geomorfológico y hidrológico tienen reverberaciones iconográficas y sonoras en el Heavy Metal, los cuales fueron analizados a través de características específicas de sus subgéneros y representados en una aplicación webgis simplificada.Este trabalho, de caráter exploratório e interdisciplinar, buscou congregar interseções entre a cultura Heavy Metal e a geodiversidade, focalizando em expressões textuais/paisagísticas de canções, álbuns e bandas do referido gênero musical. Para tal, buscou-se aliar o amparo teórico da Geografia da Música e da acepção de paisagem sonora com o respaldo técnico/cartográfico da geovisualização como possibilidade de divulgação dos resultados.
