Resumo: | Socio-spatial segregation is characterized as an expressive phenomenon in may cities on the planet and also as a topic of great scientific interest. Since the visibility of the analyzes in the first quarter of the twentieth century to the present day, different un-derstandings and approaches to the subject have been observed. Geography as a field of modern knowledge is one of the major contributors in terms of theoretical and methodo-logical support for understanding the subject. For this, methodologically, we go through a broad bibliographical survey and a specific analysis of the systematic recovery of the trajectory of urban socio-spatial segregation in the domain of the history of geographical thought and its direct relation with other disciplinary fields and spatial issues. Thus, four distinct periods are established, from different perspectives and transformations, not only registering the importance of each one of them for the disciplinary field and for the sci-entific debate throughout history, but also establishing the countless challenges, diver-gences, possibilities and controversies that orbit the theme in Geography and in the hu-man and social sciences. Keywords: Geography. Socio-spatial segregation. History of geographical thought. The-ory of Geography. Urban Geography. |

Sociospatial segregation in geographical thought: trends and perspectives, ruptures and challenges: La segregación socioespacial en el pensamiento geogràfico: tendencias y perspectivas, rupturas y retos: A segregação socioespacial no pensamento geográfico: tendências e perspectivas, rupturas e desafios: Socio-spatial segregation is characterized as an expressive phenomenon in may cities on the planet and also as a topic of great scientific interest. Keywords: Geography. Socio-spatial segregation. History of geographical thought. The-ory of Geography. Urban Geography.
