Teaching of Geography on the novel Paper Towns: geographical concepts within the literary narrative

Resumo: | This essay has as main goal to analyze the Geography which is internalized in the literary work Paper Towns (2014), by identifying and transcribing excerpts of it in which geographical concepts are exposed along the narrative. In order to do so, a theoretical basis was fundamental in authors that deal with the subject at issue. The method that was used was the one of perception, which is based on the studies of Tuan (2012 and 2013). In view of the reading and analysis of the chosen work, some concepts related to geography teaching were identified and could be used by teachers in the classroom, thus facilitating students in the development of reading and interpreting texts and, through them, opportuning them to being able to identify and understand the geographical concepts present in literary works. In this way, we understand that literary productions can be used as theoretical-methodological tools by the teacher in the teaching of Geography and that can provide the student, through the perceptions of literary works, the development in the learning process. Teaching Geography.Este ensayo tiene como objetivo principal analizar la Geografía que se internaliza en la obra literaria Paper Towns (2014), identificando y transcribiendo extractos de ella en los que se exponen conceptos geográficos durante la narrativa. Para eso, una base teórica fue construida en los autores que tratan el tema en cuestión. El método utilizado fue el de percepción, que se basa en los estudios de Tuan (2012 y 2013). En vista de la lectura y el análisis del trabajo elegido, se identificaron algunos conceptos relacionados con la enseñanza de la geografía y los maestros los podrían utilizar en las clases, facilitando así a los estudiantes el desarrollo de la lectura y la interpretación de textos y, a través de ellos, la oportunidad de hacerlo. Así como ellos ser capaces de identificar y comprender los conceptos geográficos presentes en las obras literarias. De esta manera, entendemos que las producciones literarias pueden ser utilizadas como herramientas teórico-metodológicas por el profesor en la enseñanza de la geografía y que pueden proporcionar al estudiante, a través de las percepciones de las obras literarias, el desarrollo en el proceso de aprendizaje. Enseñanza de la Geografía.O trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a geografia contida na obra literária: Cidades de Papel (2014) identificando e transcrevendo trechos da obra analisada em que conhecimentos geográficos associados às categorias de paisagem, espaço e lugar são expostos no decorrer da narrativa literária por meio de observações feitas pelos personagens da obra, de situações vivenciadas e noções espaciais relacionadas à localização. Para tanto, se fez necessário um embasamento teórico em autores que versam sobre a temática em questão. O método utilizado foi o da percepção, tendo por base os estudos de Tuan (2012 e 2013). Diante da leitura e análise da obra escolhida, identificou-se conhecimentos pertinentes ao ensino de geografia, podendo ser trabalhados pelos professores em sala de aula, facilitando, assim, aos alunos no desenvolvimento das habilidades de ler e interpretar textos e, através deles, identificar e compreender os conceitos geográficos presentes nas obras literárias. Dessa forma, entendemos que as produções literárias podem ser utilizadas como ferramentas teórico-metodológicas pelo professor no ensino de Geografia e que podem propiciar ao aluno, através das percepções das obras literárias, o desenvolvimento no processo de aprendizagem.
