Teaching of Geography on the novel Paper Towns: geographical concepts within the literary narrative

This essay has as main goal to analyze the Geography which is internalized in the literary work Paper Towns (2014), by identifying and transcribing excerpts of it in which geographical concepts are exposed along the narrative. In order to do so, a theoretical basis was fundamental in authors that deal with the subject at issue. The method that was used was the one of perception, which is based on the studies of Tuan (2012 and 2013). In view of the reading and analysis of the chosen work, some concepts related to geography teaching were identified and could be used by teachers in the classroom, thus facilitating students in the development of reading and interpreting texts and, through them, opportuning them to being able to identify and understand the geographical concepts present in literary works. In this way, we understand that literary productions can be used as theoretical-methodological tools by the teacher in the teaching of Geography and that can provide the student, through the perceptions of literary works, the development in the learning process.
