Territorial development in Brazil: an analysis from the paradigmatic debate

Territorial development gained importance in the debates on the field in Brazil in the 2000s. Mainly carried out by the federal government and encouraged by international organizations such as the World Bank, FAO and IBRD, territorial development came to be a major novelty in academic scholars, corporate actions and public policies. This work evaluates the production on territorial development in light of the paradigmatic debate, showing how the Agrarian Capitalism Paradigm and the Agrarian Question Paradigm produce different interpretations on the theme. As a methodology, we make a bibliographical review of two authors who are the ones who most influence Brazilian production, each one representing a paradigm. The article is divided into three sections. In the first part, we present the paradigmatic debate. In the second, the territorial development from the Paradigm of agrarian capitalism. In the third, the territorial development from the Agrarian Question Paradigm. Our goal is to help researchers dedicated to the subject manage to have a new key of interpretation on the subject.
