Effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the means of accommodation in the main tourist destinations on the coast of Ceará, Brazil

Resumo: The health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, aside the thousands of lives lost, had a huge impact on all segments of society, with tourism-related activities being the main afflicted. The lodging industry was one of the first activities to be affected and one of the last to recover. Thus, the present investigation aims to evaluate the impact of the pandemic on accommodation means of the main tourist destinations of the Ceará coast. Data acquisition was done through e-form whose application took place between June and July 2020, with a total of 56 responses. The data shows that 75% of hosting facilities are the Inn type, with more than 15 years of operation in which the pandemic generated an impact of 66 to 80% on the half-yearly revenue of these establishments. Expenses reduction, daily vouchers with future use and digital marketing are identified as the main strategies to circumvent the negative effects of the crisis. Keywords: Covid-19. Hotel Industry. Tourism.La crisis sanitaria provocada por la pandemia del Covid-19, además de las miles de vidas perdidas, ha tenido un enorme impacto en todos los segmentos de la sociedad, siendo las actividades relacionadas con el turismo las principales afectadas. La industria de hospedaje fue una de las primeras actividades afectada y una de las últimas en recuperarse. Así, la presente investigación tiene como objetivo evaluar el impacto de la pandemia en los medios de alojamiento en los principales destinos turísticos del litoral de Ceará. La adquisición de datos se realizó a través de un formulario electrónico cuya aplicación se realizó entre junio y julio de 2020, con un total de 56 respuestas. Los datos muestran que 75% de los establecimientos de hospedaje son tipo posada con más de 15 años de funcionamiento en los que la pandemia generó un impacto de 66 al 80% en los ingresos semestrales de estos establecimientos. La reducción de gastos, los vales diarios con uso futuro y el marketing digital se señalan como las principales estrategias para superar los efectos negativos de la crisis. Palavras clave: Covid-19. A indústria de hospedagem foi uma das primeiras atividades a serem afetadas e uma das últimas a se recuperar. Assim, a presente investigação tem como objetivo avaliar o impacto da pandemia nos meios de hospedagens dos principais destinos turísticos do litoral cearense. A aquisição de dados foi feita por meio de um formulário eletrônico cuja aplicação se deu entre os meses de junho e julho de 2020, com um total de 56 respostas. Os dados apontam que 75% dos meios de hospedagem são do tipo pousada com mais de 15 anos de funcionamento, e a pandemia gerou um enorme impacto, com diminuição de 66% a 80% no faturamento semestral desses estabelecimentos.
