Mapping the nets: youngsters, digital and residence territories

Resumo: The text presents reflections on young people's experience in Aglomerado da Serra, an urban periphery area, in the city of Belo Horizonte/Minas Gerais. Those reflections are the result of an ethnography developed among young people in the territory they live and in cyberspace as well. The research in digital social media revealed that urban places such as cities, neighborhoods and the streets are not only digitized, but also mark online socialization of the youth. Their posts on social media show interfaces between the city and the web and cyberspace was revealed to be a fold of urban life. The place where they live has not only the function of spatial reference or space of residence anymore, but also of a social and symbolic category, an essential component of the plot of their identity references and of their processes of socialization and individualization. Cyberspace.El texto presenta reflexiones sobre experiencias juveniles en un territorio urbano periférico, el Aglomerado da Serra, en la ciudad de Belo Horizonte/Minas Gerais. Las reflexiones son el resultado de una etnografía desarrollada con jóvenes en el territorio de residencia y en el ciberespacio. La investigación en redes sociales digitales reveló que el espacio urbano, las ciudades, los barrios y las calles no solo se digitalizan, sino que también marcan la socialización en internet de los jóvenes. Las publicaciones de los jóvenes expresaron interfaces entre la ciudad y la web, el ciberespacio resultó ser un pliegue de la vida urbana. El territorio de origen de los jóvenes escapó a la función de referencia espacial o espacio de residencia, pero se reveló como una categoría social y simbólica, componente esencial en el tejido de referencias identitarias y en los procesos de socialización e individualización de los jóvenes. Ciberespacio.  O texto apresenta reflexões sobre experiências juvenis em um território urbano periférico, o Aglomerado da Serra, na cidade de Belo Horizonte/Minas Gerais. As reflexões são fruto de uma etnografia desenvolvida com jovens no território de moradia e no ciberespaço. A pesquisa em redes sociais digitais revelou que o espaço urbano, as cidades, os bairros e ruas estão não apenas digitalizados, mas marcam a socialização online juvenil. As postagens de jovens expressaram interfaces entre a cidade e a web, o ciberespaço mostrou-se como uma dobra da vida urbana. O território de moradia dos jovens escapou a função de referência espacial ou espaço de residência, mas revelou-se como categoria social e simbólica, componente essencial na trama das referências identitárias e nos processos de socialização e individualização juvenis.
