Interfaces between rural education and agroecology in rural settlement areas in the state of Paraná

Resumo: This work questions the relationship between rural education and agroecology in rural settlement areas linked to the Brazilian Landless Workers’ Movement (MST). It starts off from the assumption that agroecology, as a productive matrix spread by the MST, strengthens and increases the perspective of emancipatory rural education, which values individuals’ knowledge and lifestyle, besides its contribution to their continuity in the countryside. Thus, the school takes a main role in the process of formal education and becomes a privileged space to study the contradictions within the Brazilian rural context, as well as the dissemination of agroecology principles. The school, however, is unable to ensure this education if it does not follow the movement from the reality in which it takes part. Therefore, supported by literature review, documental analyses, interviews and in loco observations, this text presents an analysis of agroecological actions developed in two rural schools located in rural settlement areas in the State of Paraná by contextualizing the progresses and limitations of its pedagogical practices. Keywords: Rural Education; Agroecology; Rural Settlement.  Este trabajo indaga la relación entre la Educación del Campo y la Agroecología en áreas de asentamientos rurales vinculados al Movimiento de los Trabajadores Rurales Sin Tierra (MST). Se parte del presupuesto de que la Agroecología, cuanto matriz productiva difundida por el MST, potencializa y refuerza la perspectiva de una Educación del Campo emancipadora, que valora el conocimiento y el modo de vida de los sujetos, además de contribuir para su permanencia en el campo. Así, la escuela adquiere centralidad en el proceso de educación formal y pasa ser un espacio privilegiado para el estudio de las contradicciones del campo brasileño, bien como para la difusión de los principios de la Agroecología. La escuela, sin embargo, no consigue garantir esa formación si no acompañar el movimiento de la realidad en que está insertada. Esto puesto, amparado en la revisión de la literatura, análisis documental, entrevistas y observaciones in loco, este texto presenta un análisis de las acciones al redor de la Agroecología desarrolladas en dos escuelas del campo ubicadas en asentamientos rurales en el estado del Paraná, contextualizando los avances y los limites en sus prácticas pedagógicas. Palabras clave: Educación del Campo; Agroecología; Asentamientos rurales.Este trabalho problematiza a relação entre a Educação do Campo e a Agroecologia em áreas de assentamentos rurais vinculados ao Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST). Parte-se do pressuposto de que a Agroecologia, enquanto matriz produtiva difundida pelo MST, potencializa e reforça a perspectiva de uma Educação do Campo emancipatória, que valoriza o conhecimento e o modo de vida dos sujeitos, além de contribuir para a sua permanência no campo. Assim, a escola adquire centralidade no processo de educação formal e passa a ser um espaço privilegiado para o estudo das contradições do campo brasileiro, bem como para a difusão dos princípios da Agroecologia. A escola, entretanto, não consegue garantir essa formação se não acompanhar o movimento da realidade em que está inserida. Amparado em revisão da literatura, análise documental, entrevistas e observações in loco, este texto apresenta uma análise das ações em torno da Agroecologia desenvolvidas em duas escolas do campo localizadas em assentamentos rurais no estado do Paraná, contextualizando os avanços e os limites nas suas práticas pedagógicas.
