Resumo: The susceptibility of 275 bacteria strains collected from the environment of veterinary hospital, surgical wounds, veterinarians and support staff to seven antibiotics and chemoterapics tested by an agar diffusion technique according to the method of Kirby-bauer, Gentamicin and chloramphenicol were the most active drugs against the strains from five sites of contamination. Penicillin and ampicilin were ineffective against the genus of Enterobacteriaceae family.

A sensibilidade de 275 cepas bacterianas oriundas do ambiente de hospital veterinário, feridas cirúrgicas, médicos veterinários, enfermeiros e auxiliares de enfermagem foi testada em relação a sete antibióticos e quimioterápicos segundo a técnica de difusão em placa pelo método de Kirby-Bauer. O gentamicina e o cloranfenicol, em geral, demonstraram maior atividade frente às cepas provenientes das cinco fontes.
