Resumo: A clinical and histopathological evaluation of full-thickness cutaneous burns repair in rabbits in the presence of bovine peritoneum wound dressings preserved in glycerol 98% was evaluated. Two areas of 2.5cm of diameter, 4cm equidistant, on right and left dorsal thoracic surfaces was delimited in sixteen animals. Skin areas were removed until exposure of the muscular fascia. The wound’s fascia and edges were electrically cauterized. On the wounds at right side, bovine peritoneum fragment conserved in glycerin 98% under gauze humidified with 0.9% physiological solution were applied (treated group) Wounds at left side were irrigated with distilled water (control group). All wounds were involved by crepe gauze bandage and changed everyday and evaluation on 3, 7, 14 and 21 days of postoperative period. The bovine peritoneum bandage came off from wounds in 20 day of postoperative period, in average. xenogenic bandage in cutaneous burnings in rabbits causes absence of exudations and occlusion of the wound and formation of a scar organized with less intensity granulation tissue.KEY WORDS: Biological membrane, healing, skin, wounds.
