Resumo: It’s true that Portuguese translations of the Apology of Socrates, a work written by the Socratic polygraph Xenophon, already exist. But it’s also true that none of them was conceived and executed as a collective translation, as in our case, by seven persons with rather distinct proficiencies in Greek and Portuguese. The diachronic meetings of these professors and students of ancient Greek at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) provided a translation which tries to reproduce the style of Xenophon in terms of a literary Brazilian Portuguese. The first translation steps were made in 2019 within a class of the Post-Graduate Program of Classics, while it got its final form within a final term class of the Portuguese-Greek Graduate Course of the UFRJ, in 2022.
