Resumo: This paper discusses the construction of the homeland’s theme, in the poetry of Cláudio Manuel, based on the Obras, published in 1768. The article discusses the recurrence of the pilgrim in his own land's paradox, based on the contradictions between civility and rudeness; Arcadian reasoning and the love for his birthplace. The author identifies the influx of the classical tradition of Ovidi and Virgil, in order to better understand the poet's approach to his land in the reconstruction of the Arcadian ideal.

Trazemos elementos para abordar a recorrência, na poesia do poeta árcade, do paradoxo do peregrino em sua própria terra, a partir da contradição entre civilidade e rusticidade, entre a razão arcádica e o amor pela terra natal.
