Mapping mediations and territories of expression for a politics of media education: the EntreMídias group

We discuss here the foundations of some practices developed within the creation of the group EntreMídias - Laboratório de Educação Midiática. EntreMídias has been developing and teaching workshops on critical readings of the media, in the journalism course at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, since 2018. Based on experiences in media education and media literacy, the training workshops develop a series of methodological clues that will be addressed in this article based on the maps of mediations, created by Jesus Martín-Barbero and the notion of territories of expression. The training activity in workshops could dimension the importance of the constitution of heterogeneous territories to make it possible to read the media critically and with shared repertoires. In this view, the work aims to monitor the processes and methodologies created by the collective, in order to foster above all, diversified work groups and approach the media theme in its uses, experimentations, and messages. The workshops, thus, constitute propitious environments and fertile ground for understanding the messages shared by subjects in their unique cultural competencies and corroborate for the creation of media education policies.
