The implementation of the neoliberal development model in Mexico has caused a mismatch between the political and economic forces, affecting State’s capacity to regulate and control the behavior of large companies. In turn, people affected by the adverse corporate impacts face multiple obstacles to access to judicial remedy. This article analyzes the state of the art on the issue of business and human rights in Mexico, particularly regarding the implementation of the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights at the national level and the position of the Mexican State on the elaboration of a binding treaty on this field. This paper examines the progress and the remaining challenges in the area of business and human rights in Mexico.
