Resumo: Introduction: role, due to its protagonism of welcoming and execution of health actions at the individual and collective levels. Among its areas of activity are the protection and promotion of health, and the prevention of diseases and injuries. However, there are many challenges for its effectiveness to be achieved, especially regarding health promotion. Health is the result of social production and its understanding cannot be restricted to the health sector. The performance based on the expanded concept of health requires multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary work that must be stimulated from the professional training. Objective: To present the academic experience in the development of health promotion actions in an extension project, aimed at a community in a municipality in Minas Gerais. Experience Report: It is a descriptive study, the result of the experience of undergraduate students in Physical Education, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Medicine, Nutrition, Dentistry, Psychology and Social Work, participants in the extension project "Integration: knowing and doing health promotion", from the Federal University of Juiz de Fora in 2019. Discussion: The activities of this project, made it possible for students to get closer to the reality of the scenario in question, through home visits that, in addition to enabling situational diagnosis and the living and health conditions of its residents, promoted the creation of fruitful spaces for the health education process, with a clear contribution to health promotion and improvement of relations between users and the local health system. Conclusion: There are still few opportunities in the early stages of graduation to build interdisciplinary work from a practical experience. This is believed to be a possibility for transforming the teaching-learning process and, above all else, for social production of health and community autonomy.
