A permanência semântica na tradução audiovisual: uma análise da legendagem pela ótica da semântica de frames

Resumo: O foco desta pesquisa é a permanência semântica na legendagem como modalidade de tradução audiovisual. Para fins deste estudo, realizamos uma pesquisa sobre as limitações de espaço e tempo presentes durante o processo de legendagem, os tipos de soluções decorrentes de tais limitações e como elas podem afetar as informações no âmbito semântico durante a tradução entre duas modalidades (falada e escrita) presentes na obra para além das diferenças entre frames esperadas em uma tradução circunscrita à modalidade escrita. Para rastrear o resultado dessas alterações no que concerne à semântica, foi necessário realizar a coleta, o tratamento, análise e comparação dos frames evocados pelas legenda e pelas falas de uma obra audiovisual. Foi escolhida uma temporada da série de documentários sobre turismo Pedro Pelo Mundo. A escolha desta obra foi feita por se relacionar a outras pesquisas já em desenvolvimento na FrameNet Brasil; complementando aquilo que já vem sendo pesquisado no âmbito de pesquisa em multimodalidade e Linguística Computacional. A análise foi realizada de acordo com a teoria da Semântica de Frames, com metodologia criada pelo laboratório da FrameNet Brasil para a realização de pesquisas em corpora multimodais. De posse dos dados processados e analisados, foi possível realizar a comparação dos dados com outra pesquisa multimodal sobre tradução e criação de legendas para imagens estáticas, realizada por Viridiano et al. (2022). A comparação entre os resultados obtidos por esta pesquisa e o estudo anterior levou a achados relevantes sobre a legendagem enquanto forma de Tradução Audiovisual, a permanência semântica na legendagem e na tradução.

For the purposes of this study, we carried out a research on the limitations of space and time present during the subtitling process, the types of solutions resulting from such limitations and how they can affect the information in the semantic scope during the translation between two text modalities -spoken and written - present in the work in addition to the changes already present and expected in a translation restricted to the written modality. In order to track the results of these changes in terms of semantics, it was necessary to collect, process, analyze, and compare the frames evoked by the subtitles and by the speech of an audiovisual work. A season of the tourism documentary series Pedro Pelo Mundo was chosen. The choice of this work was made because it relates to other research already under development at FrameNet Brasil; complementing what has already been researched in the fields of research in multimodality and Computational Linguistics. The analysis was carried out according to the theory of Semantics of Frames, with a methodology created by the laboratory of FrameNet Brasil for carrying out research in multimodal corpora. With the processed and analyzed data in hand, it was possible to compare the data with another multimodal research on translation and creation of subtitles for still images, carried out by Viridiano et al. (2022).
