Terroir do azeite e turismo: possibilidades para o olivoturismo em Maria da Fé/MG

Resumo: Os azeites de oliva produzidos na Serra da Mantiqueira têm alcançado patamares de excelência em avaliações sensoriais oficiais pelo mundo. A cidade mineira de Maria da Fé, em especial, pioneira na olivicultura no país, com o primeiro azeite extravirgem brasileiro extraído em 2008, tem se destacado nos mais conceituados concursos de azeites nacionais e internacionais em razão das elevadas pontuações e medalhas conquistadas recentemente por seus azeites. Este sucesso que vem sendo atribuído também ao seu terroir, que tem despertado o interesse de turistas e colocado a cidade no circuito do olivoturismo. O objetivo principal deste estudo é analisar as conexões possíveis do terroir do azeite com o olivoturismo em Maria da Fé. Para tal, este artigo foi baseado, metodologicamente, em pesquisa qualitativa, bibliográfica e documental. Os resultados alcançados demonstraram uma relação entre o terroir do azeite e o aumento da demanda e oferta do olivoturismo, e da promoção da cidade, descrevendo as ofertas olivoturísticas de quatro empreendimentos locais que vêm praticando algumas dessas experiências.

The Minas Gerais city of Maria da Fé, in particular, a pioneer in olive growing in the country, with the first Brazilian extra virgin olive oil extracted in 2008, has stood out in the most prestigious national and international olive oil contests due to the high scores and medals recently won by its oils. This success has also been attributed to its terroir, which has aroused the interest of tourists and placed the city on the olive tourism circuit. The main objective of this study is to analyze the possible connections of the olive oil terroir with olive tourism in Maria da Fé. To this end, this article was methodologically based on qualitative, bibliographic and documentary research.
